Located on Lake Monroe, once home to the nation’s largest inland regatta, the Sailfest that comprised of 750 sailing vessels on five race courses. It is a 9,406-acre fresh water lake that is part of the St. Johns River, located approximately 20 miles north of Orlando with Sanford on its southern shore. The lake’s average depth is about 6-7 feet and the winds on the lake are generally light to moderate.
The local sailing community is called the Lake Monroe Sailing Association Inc. (LMSA), and has been active since 1985. LMSA provides new sailors many opportunities to sail, crew, socialize and participate in local regatta sailing events held though out the year.
Lake Monroe is a wonderful place to feel the wind on your face, relax or actively harness the wind, and get connected with nature. We would love to have you stop by for a visit. Give us a call and schedule a time to go sailing.
